Vladimiro<\/h3>\n

Meeting up for an aperitif with Vladimiro is one of my favorite things to do. We have a lot in common. In fact, this diary should have started on Day Zero because everything began exactly a year ago. I was searching for information about Guzzi’s Idroconvert, one of the few historic motorcycles with an automatic gearbox, when I stumbled upon Anima Guzzista, a site dedicated to Guzzi enthusiasts. They also have a Facebook profile, and that’s where it all started.<\/p>\n

I shared my story and sought advice on both the possibility of a sidecar and the Convert. In less than half an hour, I received almost 40 responses, one of which was from Vladimiro Corbari, the president of the Association. He suggested that we could have a phone conversation if I was interested and left me his number. I decided to give him a call, and to my surprise, I discovered that we had a lot in common.<\/p>\n

Vladimiro has a close friend, a year older than me, who experienced the same accident at the same age with similar outcomes. At thirty, both of us had to reconstruct our lives with a monoplegia in the left arm. Vladimiro, however, didn’t give up and went above and beyond to help his friend get back on the saddle against all odds. He truly has a heart as big as they come. But the coincidences don’t end there. I learned that we both worked in the same sector \u2013 the field of advertising communication. I was a copywriter, and he was an art director. While I continued to climb the ranks ultimately becoming a creative director, Vladimiro immersed himself in the world of Guzzi and currently works at a dealership in Mandello, dedicating all his technical expertise to it.<\/p>\n

At this point, I couldn’t contain my excitement and suggested that we meet for a drink. Vladimiro agreed and even offered to pick me up, bringing along a spare helmet. “Fantastic,” I thought. So, two Guzzi enthusiasts raced down the Casilina towards Pigneto. It was over two Campari spritzes that Contromano, this diary, began to take shape.<\/p>\n

Today, Vladimiro and I met again. I shared my project with him and asked if he would mentor me and, when the time comes, assist me in finding a Guzzi that suits me. Vladimiro is not only highly knowledgeable but also an exceptional person. And this is just the beginning, the first step.<\/p>\n

I don’t know if I’ll reach the port I’ve decided to land at, and I’ll likely encounter storms and calms along the way, but casting off the moorings is already an achievement, and standing still won’t get me anywhere.<\/p>\n

Vladimiro<\/h3>\r\n\r\nL\u2019aperitivo con Vladimiro \u00e8 una delle cose che mi piace fare. Abbiamo molto in comune. In effetti questo diario avrebbe dovuto cominciare con un Giorno Zero perch\u00e9 le cose si sono messe in moto esattamente un anno fa. Stavo cercando notizie sulla Idroconvert della Guzzi, una delle poche moto storiche con cambio automatico e mi sono imbattuto in Anima Guzzista, un sito di appassionati Guzzi. Hanno anche un profilo Facebook e \u00e8 l\u00ec che \u00e8 cominciato tutto.\r\n\r\nHo raccontato la mia storia e chiesto lumi sia sulla possibilit\u00e0 sidecar che sulla Convert. Nel giro di mezz\u2019ora mi sono arrivate quasi 40 risposte, tra queste quella di Vladimiro Corbari, presidente dell\u2019Associazione. Mi dice che se mi va potremmo sentirci al telefono. Mi lascia il numero. Lo chiamo. E scopro di avere moltissimo in comune con lui. Perch\u00e9 Vladimiro ha un carissimo amico di un anno pi\u00f9 grande di me che ha avuto il mio stesso incidente alla mia stessa et\u00e0 e con gli stessi esiti. A trent\u2019anni, insomma, sia io che lui abbiamo dovuto ricostruire la nostra vita con una monopleg\u00eca al braccio sinistro. Vladimiro non si \u00e8 arreso e si \u00e8 dannato l\u2019anima per aiutarlo fino a rimetterlo in sella contro tutti e tutto. Un cuore grande cos\u00ec. Ma le coincidenze non finiscono qua. Scopro che entrambi abbiamo lavorato nello stesso settore, quello della comunicazione pubblicitaria: copywriter io, art director lui. Io ho continuato fino a diventare direttore creativo, lui invece si \u00e8 buttato sulle Guzzi e lavora in una concessionaria della casa di Mandello a cui dedica tutta la sua competenza tecnica. \r\n\r\nA questo punto non ce la faccio pi\u00f9 e gli propongo di incontrarci per bere una cosa insieme e lui mi risponde che passer\u00e0 a prendermi. Porter\u00e0 con s\u00e9 un secondo casco. Diavolo, faccio io. Cos\u00ec due innamorati della Guzzi sfrecciano sulla Casilina verso il Pigneto. Ed \u00e8 di fronte a due spritz Campari che Contromano, questo diario, comincia prendere forma. \r\n\r\nCos\u00ec oggi, io e Vladimiro ci siamo incontrati di nuovo. Gli ho raccontato del mio progetto e gli ho chiesto di farmi da mentore e, quando sar\u00e0 il momento, di aiutarmi a trovare una Guzzi adatta a me. Vladimiro non \u00e8 solo competente, \u00e8 anche una splendida persona. \r\n\r\nE questo \u00e8 solo l\u2019inizio, la prima tappa.
